Quail is the collective name for several groups of mid-sized birds in the pheasant family, which includes chickens. Quail are small, plump, mainly earth bound birds. They are seed eaters, they nest on the ground and are only capable of short, rapid bursts of flight. The breeders are carefully selected to maintain a large uniform quail.

Detailed Description

One subspecies that migrated between Europe and Asia was eventually domesticated in China where the birds were raised as pets and singing birds. Reports of the importing of quail to Canada can be found as early as 1879. Black Angus buys the finest Quail and Quail products from Nipissing Game Farm in Callander, Ontario, a farm of 100 acres near the shores of Lake Nipissing in northern Ontario. Quail hunting is popular in North America and everyone recalls the Dick Chaney hunting incident in February 2006 when the U.S. Vice President shot and injured a 78 year old lawyer while on a quail hunt on a ranch in Texas. Our quail are raised naturally without antibiotic treatment to maintain its famed flavor, texture, and lean, healthful aspects. Quail is fortified with vitamins and nutrients such as vitamin A, iron and phosphorus, as well as being high in protein and low in cholesterol.
