To meet consumer preferences, Canadian chicken is produced both organically and by conventional methods. While there are several differences in the way organic chicken is produced, the chicken produced by both organic and conventional producers is high quality, nutritious and safe.
The differences are no pesticides or chemical fertilizers are permitted in the growing of the animals' feed. The animals must be fed from crops grown on land not sprayed for a minimum of three years. No animal by products or genetically modified organism (GMO's) are permitted in the animals’ feed. No antibiotic or growth hormones are permitted. Third party verification and inspection are required by an accredited certifying body along with a thorough audit trail to trace all certified organic products back to the farm of origin.
