What are people saying about Black Angus Fine Meats and Game?
Here are some of the testimonials from our Chefs and Loyal Customers.
Firstly, I just want to explain the process I was going through to find a few good suppliers. I am a very avid home cook, love hosting fun get-togethers with friends, but also I really focus on great quality meats (& other ingredients). No question, it is easy to find good quality meat around Toronto, yet the prices don't quite justify it. I understand completely, I want all good quality businesses to make money, and to justify downtown Toronto rent - it's no surprise that prices need to be a bit higher.
Now to Black Angus... I have known about Black Angus Fine Meats & Game for many years, as almost every week (sat mornings) I have heard about them on the Outdoor Journal radio show. The show gives a quick snippet on the store, but doesn't do it justice. After listening for a few years, I finally decided to make the short drive to the Mississauga location. To be honest, the 1st time I went in the staff were very friendly but there was no question we were on a different wavelength. They are advocates of amazing "game" meats (which I love, and many great health benefits), but I was there looking for the barebones meat, BEEF. Although they really push the game meats, and I know (from restaurant contacts), they are THE premier source for game meats, that's not why I was there. Truth is, they have some of the best beef ( and traditional?) meats at prices that put any other retailer to shame, from my experience. They dry age beef (in a very simple display), offer incredible grass-fed meat, and will essentially cut anything you need.
The best part of this story is, not only do I feel like I am getting great value - after the 2nd visit, they have quickly become great contacts. 1st time, they were incredibly friendly but the 2nd time - they figured me out. I have been to many butcher shops, and Black Angus ranks in the top tier. They easily match (and imo, exceed) the "fancy" shops; cumbraes, pusetari's, healthy butcher, medium rare - but beat the price and offer great personal service!
I hope this helps people in the west end looking for a quality butcher! Plus, I have also tried many of the game meats and it's so much fun experimenting with new meats. Give it a try!!
I just wanted to compliment you on those tenderloins and rib-eyes I picked up on Saturday. They were outstanding, beautifully trimmed and melt in the mouth when cooked. My little 6 year old niece said "this meat is perfect whoever made it"! She ate almost every scrap and wanted to take the last bit home. It was an outstanding dinner thanks to the quality of the meat.
We just received the dry aged rib eye steaks, elk sausage and kangaroo burgers. All - especially the steaks - are fantastic! We will be back for more!
Black Angus has the best selection of local meats and game. I love to mix it up so it's a great source for us. They are a pleasure to deal with.
Those Ribeyes were sensational! Thanks Sean

Mark, just wanted to say thanks again for some outstanding rib eyes. I was in this last Saturday and bought two 24 oz rib eyes that were aged 59 days that were probably the best steak I've ever had. Please let me know where you re-locate as I will be back. Thanks again for the great service and excellent quality product.

I had the pleasure of trying these AAA Angus dry aged Ribeyes up in Thornbury and they did not disappoint. Well marbled and extremely tasty and tender as any beef I have ever worked with. I highly recommend them for clients and family. Excellent Product!
